The prelude to the 6th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art was the project Artists Beyond, which was funded with support by the European Commission. Its aim was to engage artists into a dialogue with the local public of the places where they live and work. Upon invitation from Kathrin Romberg seven artists opened up the process in which their artworks were created for the Berlin Biennale to the respective local public. With diverse events Artists Beyond offered insights into artistic research and work and enabled a participation in the creative process as well as an exchange between audience and artists at the site of their production.
